Sahara Special was my favorite book that I have read so far that we have read. My favorite part of this book was Ms. Pointy. Ms.Pointy was Sahara’s teacher. She was very spontaneous and crazy.

My faaaav part in this book is when Caddy, Indigo, Rose and Caddy’s driving instructor Michel return from one of caddy’s many driving lessons. When they pull into the driveway, Caddy accidently runs over a frog and it pops up in front of Indigo’s window. He was already sick from Caddy’s driving, so he had to get out and puke. They immediately go into the house and he is laying on the couch with a wet washcloth and the family puking bowl by his side.

I love the way Kevin Henkes begins the story with the letter from Olive’s journal. I felt like this eerie beginning drew me into the story from the start. I also love the relationship between Martha and her grandmother. Sharing one secret each day is a great idea. Martha really feels like she has someone she can share her deepest worries with.
